As golfers I believe that one of the biggest challenges we have is to accept, forgive and love ourselves. I know I have fought this all my life, because anything less than perfection in golf seems like a failure. I percieve myself as a failure sometimes because I have made mistakes and done stupid things on the golf course and in life. It is hard to face ourselves with acceptance, forgiveness and love when all we see is failure. But Easter changes all that!! It is my favorite Holiday because it speaks of acceptance, forgiveness and love. In spite of my imperfections Jesus showed me I had worth and value when He hung on that Cross and Rose from the Dead. He gave His life for me and all my shortcomings. Everyone knows John 3:16 where it says, “God so loved the world that He gave..” But John 3:17 is sometimes obscured and to me more important when it says, “God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending His Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again…” Because of Easter I do have acceptance, forgiveness and love given to me. I can accept myself with all my imperfections, forgive myself for all my failures and love myself because God has proven to me that He has given and is giving that too me. He accepts, forgives and loves Me. My hope is that I can face each day with that acceptance, forgiveness and love for myself and those around me because of those gifts God has given to me.
